Musculoskeletal support
Women’s bodies go through unique changes across different life stages, from puberty, pregnancy and postpartum recovery to menopause and beyond. These changes can lead to musculoskeletal issues such as back pain, pelvic girdle pain, muscle and joint pain and soft tissues changes.
Women’s Health Physiotherapy focuses on addressing these concerns with evidence-based techniques like strength training, posture correction, manual therapy and pelvic floor rehabilitation. Our team understands the complexities of women’s health and provides personal care to help you move better and feel stronger.
Hormonal health
Physiotherapy plays a unique and supportive role in managing women’s hormonal health throughout every stage of life. From premenstrual discomfort to perimenopause and post-menopausal challenges, hormonal changes can impact the body in ways that affect muscle strength, joint mobility, bone health and pelvic health.
Our Women’s Health Physiotherapists address these concerns through pelvic floor therapy, tailored exercise programs and lifestyle guidance to support hormonal balance. Empower your body with the care it needs to navigate hormonal transitions.
Women's pelvic health issues include pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic floor weakness, incontinence and sexual dysfunction. None of these issues are normal. Women’s Health Physiotherapy offers an effective non-invasive approach to managing these conditions.
Support for pelvic issues
Vaginal Prolapse
Physiotherapy is an effective, non-surgical approach to managing prolapse symptoms and improving pelvic health. Through targeted pelvic floor and general exercises, improving posture and breathing, and lifestyle adjustments, Physiotherapy can help reduce discomfort, support tissues and prevent further progression.
Endometriosis
Endometriosis can cause chronic pelvic pain and impact daily life. We offer a non-invasive approach to managing symptoms and improving quality of life. By addressing physical and functional aspects of endometriosis through a personalised plan we help you regain control and reduce flare-ups.
Sexual health
Physiotherapy can address underlying physical issues that impact intimacy and function including pain during intercourse, pelvic floor weakness, or conditions like vaginismus and vulvodynia. Our evidence-based treatments can help to alleviate discomfort, improve strength and enhance sexual wellness.
Pre and post surgery
Before gynaecological surgery, Physiotherapy focuses on preparing your body, strengthening pelvic floor muscles and improving core stability. Post-surgery care supports healing by addressing pain, swelling and mobility restrictions along with safe exercises to restore strength, pelvic health and function.
Bladder
If you’re dealing with urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, painful bladder syndrome or difficulty emptying your bladder, Women’s Health Physio can help you regain control. Our tailored treatments focus on optimising pelvic floor muscle function, improving coordination and promoting bladder health.
Bowel
Our Physiotherapists offer effective solutions for bowel health issues like constipation, faecal incontinence and incomplete emptying. By focusing on optimising pelvic floor muscle function, improving coordination, refining emptying techniques and addressing other factors, we help you gain confidence and control.
Pelvic pain
Physiotherapy is a compassionate, effective way of managing pelvic pain, helping to restore comfort and improve function. Our treatments and personalised care plans focus on pain science education, pelvic floor therapy, manual therapy, relaxation, lifestyle and exercise to address pain and help you move more freely.
Pessary fitting
A pessary is a non-surgical solution for pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence. It can help reduce pelvic pressure, bladder leakage and vaginal bulging. Our expert Physiotherapists assess your pelvic floor, select the right pessary, ensure correct placement and guide you on using and cleaning your pessary.

A women’s health consultant has undergone extensive post-graduate training to gain a greater understanding of the female anatomy and the changes that occur throughout a woman’s life span. This enables them to perform specialised examinations to better understand the cause of your symptoms and how best to treat them.

During your initial 60-minute consultation, your therapist will take a detailed history of your concerns and primary goals for your sessions moving forward. Our initial assessment will also include a range of different physical examinations including an internal vaginal examination to assess your pelvic floor and other internal conditions that may be contributing to your conditions. Internal pelvic exams are not compulsory and are at your discretion.
From these findings we will formulate a diagnosis and develop an individualised treatment plan to help guide your recovery. These plans may include hands-on treatment and home-based activities or exercises. Here at Embody Movement, we aim to create a caring environment, so that you can feel comfortable and confident coming to us with these sensitive issues.
