Our Exercise Physiologists Kristy Kneen and Elle Bonser have years of experience assisting clients to feel healthier and move better. They will work with you to identify and overcome any barriers to achieving your movement and health goals.

Exercise Physiology: movement tailored for you

Embody Movement Exercise Physiology sessions are personalised and tailored for you. A combination of exercise-based activities, health education and lifestyle support are designed to help you achieve optimal physical function, health and wellness.

We offer private exercise consults with our Accredited Sunshine Coast Exercise Physiologists. Or our Exercise Physiology group exercise sessions can be an affordable alternative to personal training, allowing you to maximise your Private Health Extras cover.

Embody Movement’s well-equipped gym spaces in Caloundra/Currimundi and Forest Glen allow a variety of exercise methods. Our gyms include weights, cardio, balance, clinical Pilates and functional fitness equipment such as boxing, kettlebells and battle ropes. 

No referral is required and you may be eligible for Private Health Rebates. You can be referred to an Exercise Physiologist by your GP through the Chronic Disease Management plan. We also accept DVA referrals and NDIS clients (plan or self-managed).

What does an Exercise Physiologist do?

Personalised exercise prescription and experienced care.

Accredited Exercise Physiologists specialise in clinical exercise interventions for people with a broad range of health issues. Those people may be at risk of developing, or have existing, medical conditions and injuries or disabilities.

Our Exercise Physiologists can assist with a range of conditions and injuries.

Chronic disease management

Exercise, lifestyle and nutrition support for chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disease (such as lupus/Hashimoto’s), and chronic inflammation. Understand your condition and how exercise can help manage symptoms and improve health outcomes.

Pain management and sports injuries

Strategies for exercise and pain management associated with arthritis, disc injuries and chronic pain. Optimal biomechanics for sports performance. Sports injuries clinic - sports injuries management and recovery plans. 

Rehabilitation and accident recovery

Surgical prehab and rehab for joint replacements, reconstructions and arthroscopies, as well as other orthopaedic surgeries. Accident and workplace injury recovery, Workers' Compensation, CTP injuries and return to work. Your EP will work alongside your specialist, GP, case manager and other parties to ensure the best outcome for you.

Weight loss support

Tailored personalised exercise programs and movement/dietary advice to support weight loss. Get help to set realistic and achievable goals and accountability to achieve them. Exercise rehabilitation following gastric sleeve or other gastric surgeries for weight loss. Learn the pillars of health and how they impact body size and shape, including hormones, stress and sleep.

Women’s health, pregnancy, post-natal, menopause

Pregnancy and post-natal including return to impact e.g. running, HIIT and cross fit.  Peri-menopause, menopause and post-menopausal exercise and other women’s health conditions including PCOS, endometriosis and adenomyosis. Understand the role of hormones through the female life stages and how they may impact performance and health.

Over 60s exercise and movement

Prescribing the exercises that help to manage Osteoporosis, as well as understanding the caution required during exercise due to the increased risk of fracture. Our Exercise Physiologists can support you with exercise programs for the prevention of sarcopaenia (loss of muscle mass as we age), as well as strategies for falls prevention and balance improvement.

Exercise and movement for cancer patients

Safe and effective exercise programs during and after treatment to improve quality of life, strength and reduce side effects. Exercise Physiology can improve cardiovascular, neurological, cognitive and musculoskeletal health, often impacted by cancer treatments. Embody Movement is a hygienic and non-judgemental environment where you exercise safely during immuno-compromising treatments.

NDIS Exercise Physiology

Our approach to Exercise Physiology for people on the NDIS means exercises and physical therapy are tailored to improve your mobility, movement, muscle strength, flexibility and fitness. We can also support you to access sports or recreation opportunities in the community.

Mental health, depression and anxiety support

Individualised exercise program to help manage symptoms of mental health conditions, including depression and anxiety. Exercise has been shown to improve self-esteem, mood and quality of sleep. Exercise Physiology is client-centred to improve enthusiasm and motivation for positive movement during sessions.

Fitness and exercise programs

Embody Movement can develop and tailor an exercise program based on your needs and abilities. Our qualified Exercise Physiologist will speak with you about your goals and then customise a program combining studio work and activities you can do at home. 

Fitness programs – Our Exercise Physiologists use an evidence-based approach to improve your fitness whilst ensuring body awareness and strength. We will meet you at your current fitness level and design a personalised program to help you achieve your goal.  

Exercise Programs – Let our Exercise Physiologist design a personalised exercise program to meet your health and wellbeing goals. We use evidence-based exercise to ensure safe and effective results. At Embody Movement, we also run a Balance and Bones class focused on exercises to improve balance and bone density, reducing the risk of falls.
