Joint Care Classes

Gentle, targeted movement for chronic joint pain

New Joint Care Classes starting July 2025

If you're living with chronic joint pain from conditions like Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Osteoarthritis or other inflammatory joint conditions, you're not alone.

Our Joint Care Classes are specifically designed for people who want to move better, feel stronger and regain confidence in their body, without pushing through pain or fatigue.

Led by our Rheumatology Physiotherapist Rory McIntyre, these classes are small, supportive and tailored to your individual needs, with the goal of helping you feel more in control of your body and movement.

Who are Joint Care classes for?

• People living with chronic inflammatory or degenerative joint conditions

• Anyone with joint pain, stiffness or swelling

• Anyone who has been told to exercise but doesn’t know where to begin

• Individuals looking for gentle, guided movement that supports their health, not aggravates symptoms

Whether you’ve tried exercise before and found it too hard or you’re ready to do more than just “cope” with pain, this is your starting place.

About the 8-week program

The program runs for 8 weeks, with weekly 60-minute classes in a safe, welcoming space at our Forest Glen Practice. The focus is on gentle, targeted exercises that support joint health and function.

You’ll begin with a one-on-one consultation with Rory before the classes start. This session will include:

  • An assessment of your current condition

  • Baseline outcome measures

  • Goal setting for the program

After the 8-week program, Rory will review your progress and repeat the outcome measures to track improvement.

You'll also receive a summary report outlining the changes observed and areas of ongoing focus.

We encourage regular class attendance to get the most out of the program but also understand that chronic pain can be unpredictable. Our priority is encouraging movement, not perfection. We’ll work with you and how your body feels on the day. If you’re worried about committing to all 8 sessions, please talk to us.

Why movement matters for joint conditions

You don’t need to “wait until you’re better” to start exercising. In fact, safe, gentle movement can help reduce pain, improve function and enhance your quality of life. These classes offer:

  • Supportive, low-impact exercises tailored to your body

  • Guidance from an experienced physio who understands your condition

  • A chance to connect with others on a similar journey

We help you build strength around the joints, reduce fatigue and start moving with confidence, even if it's been a while.

Places are limited to keep classes small and personalised. To register or ask questions:
