What is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP)?

Our Clinical Exercise Physiologists (Imogen, Elle & Kristy) are specialists in evidence-based exercise for generally healthy and special populations such as complex or chronic conditions (6 months +). We often like to use the term movement is medicine.

  • Education: 4-year University degree with a minimum of 500 hours of clinical experience

  • Approach: Customised prescription for each individual considering their holistic status

  • Knowledge: In depth understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, human physiology and disease processes

  • Rebates: Recognised by Medicare and Private Health Insurers.

AEP’s prescribe exercise for preventing and managing chronic diseases and injury whilst improving health and performance

What to expect from an initial appointment

All new patients will start with an initial appointment, in the appointment we will discuss the following: 

  1. Check in/Chat to get to know you including medical history, current treatments, exercise history, lifestyle, barriers and determine goals 

  2. Baseline testing to help inform our prescription, including vitals, strength and cardiovascular 

  3. Development of individualised treatment plan moving forwards. Treatment recommendations could include any of the following:

    • Continued 1:1 appointment 

    • Gym/home exercise program 

    • Clearance to join classes (if applicable) 

    • Ongoing support through exercise-based rehabilitation.

Imogen Ryan

Imogen has a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology and also studied a year of Midwifery at Australian Catholic University (ACU). She has also completed numerous additional courses such as postpartum (return to exercise: DRAM, POP & return to impact) and a Women’s Health 101 certification. Imogen is also a certified Mat Pilates Instructor.
