Embody Movement establishes Sunshine Coast first women’s health group

In an exciting first for the Sunshine Coast, Embody Movement has founded a network of women’s health professionals aimed at delivering a more holistic approach to health for women of all ages.

Launched earlier this year, the multidisciplinary referral group, called Sunshine Coast Women’s Health Collaborative, consists of a broad range of knowledgeable medical and allied health professionals dedicated to offering the very best care to their female patients.

The group was formed after the Embody Movement women’s health team, led by Christina Machray, began reaching out to doctors, specialists, gynaecologists, dietitians, psychologists and other medical professionals to discuss innovative approaches to care for local women.

Referral pathways and accurate information

Embody Movement co-owner Rachel Morgan-Varlow said there was a real need for a network of like-minded treating professionals who could cross-refer patients and provide a more rounded approach to women’s health issues.

“At Embody Movement, we believe in having a fantastic group of medical and allied health professionals to reach out to in order to support our patients through their journey and give them a comprehensive pathway of treatment,” Rachel said.

“Our aim is for women to be able to access accurate and safe information as well as opening referral pathways for women who may need access to individualised care.”

The benefits for clients of Embody Movement are that we’ll be able to provide referrals to trusted local practitioners who have a similar approach to care and health as you’ve come to expect from us. Where appropriate and approved by the client, there may also be opportunities to work more closely with other professionals to support individual clients.

One of the first initiatives of the collective is a Facebook group women can join to ask questions and discuss health-related issues in a safe, supportive environment.

The group is open to all and will include information suitable for women of all ages including adolescents, pre and post-natal, menopause and beyond.

Find out more about your pelvic floor, post-natal depression, endometriosis, nutrition for osteoporosis and a range of other topics. The Embody Movement team and other members of the group will be posting interesting information regularly. Member practitioners will be available to respond to any questions you have related to their areas of expertise.

“It is exciting time for our women’s health team to be leading such a valuable initiative in our local community, ” Rachel said.
